To celebrate 100 years since the original Vorticist BLAST, Bath Spa University is holding an interdisciplinary event called BLAST 2014 on 24th – 25th July 2014. It looks an exciting event, and is essential for all Vorticist enthusiasts. Items on the agenda include:
Enemy of the Stars The first staged performance of the 1914 version of Wyndham Lewis’s Vorticist play, which has recently been adapted for stage by Colin Edwards and Christopher Lewis, and will be produced by students and staff of Bath Spa University as part of a collaboration between the School of Humanities and Cultural Industries and the School of Drama and Performing Arts.
Vorticism in 2014 Exhibition An exhibition of contemporary artists (including graduates of Bath Spa School of Art and Design) whose work has been influenced or inspired by Vorticist aesthetics, and a round-table discussion with the exhibiting artists.
Plenary Lectures by leading experts including Professor Mark Antliff, Duke University USA; Professor Paul Edwards, University of East Anglia UK; and Professor Scott Klein, Wake Forest University USA.
